BEDM Day 13: The King of Sandwiches

I love sandwiches. I'm a bread lover baby. People who don't eat bread? They confuse me.

I go through all kinds of sandwich jags and will quite happily have the same sandwich day after day after day after day. The current obsession is ham and coleslaw - it is all I can think about and all I'm interested in.

And you can never ever go wrong with any form of cheese between your slices. Cheese and salad, or cheese and chutney, or cheese and Salt & Vinegar crisps, or cheese and cheese...

But really there can only be one sandwich that is the king of all sandwiches.

I can only apologise for the quality of the following photos. I was really only concerned with one thing when I was making this sandwich and that was shoving it in my gob as soon as humanly possible.

Step 1...

Step 2...

Step 3...

The BLT is the best of the best when it comes to sandwiches. The crispness of the lettuce, the sweetness of the tomatoes and the slight crunch of the well-done bacon, all topped off with an over generous splattering of mayo.

Nothing could be better....or could it? Convince me...

  1. Hmm, I'm not really a fan of bacon so BLT isn't one I'd choose. In fact, I seem to have gone off sandwiches and other bread products in general, lately.

  2. As a veggie I wouldn't eat this one, but I do LOVE bread and sarnies too.

  3. YES- I quite like to switch out the tomato for avocado sometimes though, also, the mayo is freakin awesome if you add black pepper and tiniest touch of lemon juice to it .

  4. I've never made a BLT but it would be a first choice in a shop or a coronation chicken. Yum. I try not to eat much bread because once I start I end up eating loads. Mostly as toast, mmmm. Seedy granary is the best. *dreams of bread*

  5. I don't tend to make sandwiches much, but I do like a good brie and cranberry, especially hot and meltilicious. Last week I stuffed a pitta pocket with cheese and popped it in the toaster. It was risky, I could have been dealing with burnt cheese smell for weeks, but luckily it melted yet remained inside the bread so all was well and I had an easy brie toastie :D

  6. Phwoar, I'd love a BLT where the bacon is fresh and just cooked!! I love sandwiches too but only if made fresh- I really am not keen on packaged sandwiches, especially with that malted bread!x

  7. Mmmm BLTS - can't go wrong there. I'm partial to a tuna sarnie or really just a cheese and cucumber one, made with lots of salad cream. Nom.

  8. Ooh, I love a BLT with freshly fried bacon. Then there's cheddar cheese and (fresh) chillis, blue cheese and bananas, egg and hummus, bacon and avacado... And good bread makes all the difference. Yum.
